PHASE 2

HEART OF OKEANOS by Petroc Sesti

Mimicking the actual heart of a stranded blue whale, this sculpture by Petroc Sesti is at the same time a votive offering to the Greek god of the Oceans and a carefully designed gift for the creatures that inhabit them. Crafted in CarbonXinc—an experimental material capable of sequestering significant quantities of greenhouse gasses—and seeded with living corals, the giant artwork will become an idyllic haven for marine lifeforms and a powerful guidepost as other artists and environmentalists chart their own conservation journeys. The sculpture was co-commissioned by The ReefLine, Faena Art and CarbonXinc.

The Miami Reef Star by CARLOS BETANCOURT

Artist Carlos Betancourt and architect Alberto Latorre's Miami Reef Star draws inspiration from the captivating migration of starfish and the interconnectedness reflected in celestial bodies. Set to debut in Phase 2, these environmental sculptures represent groundbreaking advancements in purpose-built reef technology and marine habitats. Passengers flying over Miami Beach will catch a glimpse of these innovative structures, which serve as a preview to the larger installation planned beneath the city's waters, showcasing both artistic vision and environmental stewardship.

ORAI Modules by Ocean Rescue Alliance

The Reefline and ORAI are collaborating to design new ORAI complex habitat reef modules in artistic forms to enhance marine life. These installations, surrounded by natural reef-like structures, will support biodiversity and coral outplanting using Coral Loks. These structures will also serve as focal points for research, restoration, and education, engaging the public and promoting innovative science.
